Characteristics: Armored types or unarmored types. Varies in color by type.

Locations: Infests ornamental plants, fruit trees, and shrubs commonly found in home gardens. Checking the leaves, stems, and fruits of these plants can reveal the presence of scale insects. Can also infest indoor plants in areas with high humidity. Sometimes hitchhike on new plants purchased from nurseries or garden centers.
