EXTERMINATING FOR RATS AND MICE IN ORLANDO / (407) 447-7378
Catching Rodents is like fishing, especially Rats in Attics. You have to understand their behavior and where to properly place traps. Trapping all of the Rodents requires attention to details. It’s important to keep track of the sex of rodents when trapping. If you’re only catching young males and you don’t catch the reproducing female, the problem will persist. If you have rats or mice in your attic or structure, it is important to use a lot of traps and provide them with plenty of food (bait) during the trapping process. The key is to use 3-4 times the amount of traps than the amount of rodents you have.
Did you know that it’s been proven that Rats can make decisions? If you don’t understand their biology and habits, it makes it very challenging to eliminate the entire colony, especially the older, smarter Rats that are more cautious.

Aside from a thorough inspection, Rodent Proofing or Rodent Exclusion starts by sealing up all possible entry points with quality material that rats, mice and squirrels can’t chew through or destroy. The repairs need to also look good (if possible). We do our best to make it look like the repair was done by the builder on a new home. If rats, mice can’t get in, then they can’t do damage.
WHEN TO SECURE EXPERT RODENT CONTROL SERVICES FROM TERMITE LAWN AND PEST, INC
RODENTS ARE A PUBLIC HEALTH THREAT BIGGER THAN ORIGINALLY THOUGHT
The biggest and most dangerous risk from rodents is Hantavirus. Hantavirus can be serious, causing flu-like symptoms with coughing and difficulty breathing. The young, elderly and people with a weaken immune system are at the most risk of death. According to the CDC, Hantavirus has a mortality rate of 38%. Click here to read more about Hantavirus from the CDC.
Rodents can increase or aggravate allergies and asthma. They can contaminate food. Salmonella can be viable on mouse feces for up to 86 days. Rats can carry Ectoparosites, A.K.A. Rat Mites. When doing a clean out for rodents, you need to be aware that a insecticide treatment may be necessary to control the mites.
In addition to disease and mites, rodents cause electrical fires by chewing electrical wires in attics and walls causing electrical shorts. Rodents also cause insulation damage. They can cause a 50% reduction in R-value in 6 months.

This is the best process for Rats in Attics
Step One: Initial inspection to identify the specific pest and the way they entered the structure or property. Evaluate the extent of the problem and carefully consider the removal tactics. This includes the attic. Identify exterior conducive conditions and make recommendations for eliminating conducive conditions. Provide a written quote for Rodent Control
- Seal up (Exclude) the exterior so that the rodents cannot leave or enter. Arguably, the most important step in this process.
- Place and pre-bait interior and/or exterior traps for 3-5 days. Pre-baiting is extremely important. It gains the trust of the older, smarter rodents. These rodents are often shy and scared of new introductions into their environment, such as snap traps, glue boards and monitoring stations. Tip: We use a lot of bait. We use 3-4 times more bait than the amount of Rodent we think you have. There must be enough for them to feed on for 5+ days.
Step Four: Collect and discard trapped rodents. Reset traps if needed and follow up in 2-5 days. Inspect our “Seal Up” exclusion work. Repeat this step, until all rodents have been eradicated.
Step Five: Retrieve traps – cleanup. Re-Inspect the “Seal Up” exclusion work.
Step Six (Optional): 1) Remove attic insulation 2) disinfect attic 3) replace insulation.
