Have you ever wondered if or what damages Rats can cause?
Well wonder no more! We’ll list some of the problems associated with these nasty pests.
Rats are one of the most frightening and disgusting visions a person can see at their home or work. A colony of rats can consume an average of an ounce of food per rat, per day. They can ruin and destroy grain and other food at packaging plants. Rats excrete about 1/2 an ounce of urine per day and 20-50 droppings per day (droppings are rat poop, yuck). Imagine how many droppings and urine could be in an attic after just a few months of having an infestation.
Rats gnaw through wood, aluminum, sheet rock, soft cement, asphalt and soft metals such as lead and copper. They gnaw on electrical wires, pipes and gas lines. There is speculation that they are perhaps the source of “undetermined fires.”
Rats have also been known to bite babies in cribs, confined elderly, indigent and the homeless.
