Black Widow Spider
Name: 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘴
Size: ~3 to 10 mm
Characteristics: Female is glossy black, with an hourglass-like shape on its abdomen. Male black widow is brown or gray, with small red specks on its abdomen.
Locations: Secluded areas. Webs can be found in rock piles and block walls, in sprinkler valve boxes and sheds, in garages, and on the underside of patio furniture.
Brown Widow Spider
Name: 𝘓𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘶𝘴
Size: ~13 mm
Characteristics: The brown widow is similar to the black widow, but its hourglass body is yellowish orange or reddish orange.
Locations: Invasive species. Secluded areas. Webs can be found in isolated, secure locations like old tires, empty containers, buckets, entryways, mail boxes, storage closets, and garages.
Daddy Long Legs
Name: 𝘗𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴
Size: ~0.6 to 23 mm
Characteristics: Often confused with spiders. Does not have silk glands. Cannot spin webs. Dark with thin long legs.
Locations: Most commonly found in the shade, underneath eaves and crawl spaces.
House Spider
Name: 𝘛𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘥𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘢
Size: ~5 to 8 mm
Characteristics: Dark orange or brown breastplate with pale stain.
Locations: Found in dark places. Attics, behind furniture, cupboards, basements, closets, storage rooms, etc.
Sac Spider
Name: 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘶𝘮 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘴
Size: ~4 to 10 mm
Characteristics: Pale (yellow/beige). First pair of legs are the longest. Legs have dark tips.
Locations: Wall corners, behind picture frames, along wall, ceiling, and baseboards. Wood piles.
Wolf Spider
Name: 𝘓𝘺𝘤𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘢𝘦 𝘴𝘱𝘱
Size: ~2 to 40 mm
Characteristics: Large. Dark pattern on back.
Locations: Found indoors. Around doors and windows, inside closets, basements, and garages.
