Types: Most common in and around Florida homes are the Florida woods roach (31.75 mm), American (38 mm), smokybrown (44.5 mm), brown (38 mm), Australian (38 mm), German (16 mm), and Asian (16 mm).
Locations: Hides in the dark. Comes out to feed at night. Found in kitchen sink or drain board, underneath cupboards, inside cabinets, behind drawers, around pipes, behind window or door frames, behind loose baseboards.
Control Methods: Exclusion, elimination of water sources (plumbing leaks, sink water, indoor plants, condensation, dog bowls), elimination of food sources (garbage, around fridge, sink strainers, kitchen countertops, dirty dishes, toasters, microwaves, ovens, unsealed food, pet food), and elimination of harborages (cracks and crevices, mulch, firewood, tree holes, shrubbery, clutter).
